Our reviewers

چکیده
THE QUALITY of a scholarly journal rests upon the knowledge and dedication of its referees. During the past two years, the Associate Editors (Toby Berger, Jack Capon, John G. Proakis, Luther D. Rudolph, Donald L. Snyder, and Terry J. Wagner) and I, all new to our positions, have been deeply impressed by both the competence and the generosity of the referees for this TRANSACTIONS. Their contributions to this journal are reflected in the remarkably many acknowledgments to “anonymous referees” which appear in our pages. Continuing a past tradition, we shall drop the veil of anonymity enough to list below the names of those who have made a substantial contribution as a referee to this TRANSACTIONS during the past two years. We deeply appreciate their efforts. With this issue, Ian F. Blake’s name replaces that of Thomas Kailath on the masthead as Associate Editor for Book Reviews; and two issues hence Shu Lin will similarly replace Luther D. Rudolph as Associate Editor for Algebraic Coding. We owe a large debt of gratitude to these two retiring Associate Editors as well as our referees. --JAMES L. MASSEY
